The painting phaser is used as a backing when painting paintings and icons with oil, tempera and acrylic paints.

Phaser is a natural product obtained under the influence of mechanical friction and technological steam from splinters of various types of wood. Bonding components are added to the wood thus dismembered, and then, by means of additional hot pressing, the resulting mass is transformed into a rigid fibreboard known as a fibreboard. The special treatment of the phaser allows for a perfectly smooth and scratch-free surface and, like any wood base, is suitable for painting with different paints, and in order to reduce the absorbency of the phaser, prevent the fragility of the picture and create a clean and light base for the colors to stand out, it must be pre-treated by priming. In addition to being a base for painting, the phaser can also be used as a substrate on which to place canvas or drawing paper, thus ensuring a flat and smooth work area.
