Folia kits – I made it for you!

Today’s presentation is dedicated to the creative kits of the German hobby products company Folia. Two days ago, my princesses received such. And, although I chose them myself and had an idea of what they were, I was very pleasantly surprised when we opened the packages at home and saw their contents…

The kits we received were “Candy” and “Muttertag”. The first, in a delicate girly range, with iridescent pink-purple colors and incredibly beautiful papers, including those with embossed surfaces, a sheet covered with glitter, as well as one-sided design papers. In addition to sheets and cardboard, the set also contained ready-to-stick tags, as well as pink pebbles for decoration. Since the creative set is generally for children, I thought that the sheets would be drawn to make it easier to assemble the shapes shown on the package. It turned out that it was not so – there are attached schemes with assembly patterns, but they are on a separate sheet. Transferring the scheme is indeed a slightly more inconvenient option, but on the other hand, it gives children the opportunity to choose the appropriate color for the individual elements of their decorative project. And having said that, I should not forget to note that the sheets (intermediate format between A4 and A5) are enough for the production of two or three pieces of each of the figures shown on the package. The second creative set “Muttertag” is much larger – not only in format (slightly larger than a standard A4 sheet), but also in parts – as many as 312 elements, unlike “Candy”, which had 83. Since it is dedicated to “Mother’s Day”, it does not have a strictly defined color scheme – there are sheets and cardboard of different colors, including monochromatic, designer, corrugated paper, colored tracing paper… Of course, that’s not all – there are 6 beautiful universal cards in the decoration set, which the younger ones can simply fold in the indicated place and have fun gluing round pebbles on their projects. These pebbles are really many – a mix of 75 crystals of different sizes in transparent, blue and red colors. If the princesses are a little older, they could assemble figurines from the delicate quilling strips in 12 shades (10 pieces of each color) or make a spectacular 3D flower from the attached color templates. Ready-made craft projects can subsequently be given as a personal gift or addressed to a specific recipient, using the 5 envelopes for letters in the set. Of course, if you are one of those who have been engaged in handmade cards and boxes for a long time, and you are satisfied with materials that your children constantly use, the idea of these sets may seem impractical to you. I myself have made boxes in which I have selected creative materials for gifts to my children, and I have made colored papers for them with decoupage. This time, however, I decided to choose something different for them. And I was really very pleased with my choice (especially with the papers in the “Candy” set). To be honest, I also liked the delicate shades of the “Spring” set, but I decided that for now the two sets will be enough for us.

In fact, I think that Folia sets would be a very good idea not only for a children’s gift, but also for use by kindergartens and schools (if the latter have a budget for hobby activities). The large number of elements in the sets could be used to make multiple cards or invitations for various holidays. And most of all – it would bring a lot of fun moments and inspiring creative ideas, not only for the children and those who assist them in their first projects, but also for the recipients of the children’s creations filled with sincere love. And, indeed, what could be more inspiring than the childish: “I did it for you!”
